AMVC-Letterenhuis, Antwerpen
The Letterenhuis renovated its permanent exhibition
on Flemish literature in October 2004.
We were responsible for the production, installation
and control of two interactive modules.
In the module Heimat, the visitor can
indicate a place on the map of Flanders on a touch screen.
Information about an author from this area is displayed
in 3 small light boxes. Simultaneously, a fragment from
a book of this author is being read out loud.
I2F
MediaBrick controls the associations and
circuits and establishes the graphic relations for the
touchscreen.

The module Debutantenbox consists
of a dark, square room with 53 glass show cases on all
sides. Each show case presents an object related to
a certain writer. At each instance, 6 show cases are
illuminated simultaneously. Every 10 seconds, a light
goes out and another one goes on, seemingly at random.
For these connections, which have to be done correctly
and in a reliable way on long term, Inter2Face has put
in its 64
channel wide I/O Peripheral Card, a
"solid state" apparatus designed by Richard
Evans.
